Moody: Little Princess in heaven Comments
* Note the first: A DS is a handheld Nintendo game system.
** Note the second: As always, family conversations are approximations, not exact transcripts. Except for, in this case, the last line.
The sign on the church readerboard as we were driving through town said, “You are in the process of becoming someone. The question is, who?”
Little Princess looked at the sign and commented that she knew what it meant: “That people are supposed to be becoming more like God.”
Pleased by her answer, I agreed. “Yes,” I said. “It means you should think about the decisions you make, because God wants us to act a certain way, not the way the world wants us to act.”
“How does the world want us to act?” she asked.
“Like we’re the only one who matters. Like it’s all about us. The world tells us to try to get as much as we can for ourselves and not think about anyone else.”
She pondered that for a moment. “Who says that? Advertisers?”
“Sure,” I said. “They want you to think it’s important to have all the cool stuff and all the cool toys. But this world is only temporary. We shouldn’t be attached to it. Our real home is with God in heaven, forever.”
“And when I get there,” LP announced triumphantly, “I’ll get a golden DS!”
